In 1995 SendSafe was born from the synergy of two business owners working together to create a new way of doing secure commerce over the Internet. One business owner runs a manufacturing company. The other business owner runs a software development company. The quality of SendSafe is due to the quality of the relationship between the two businesses... and the relationship couldn’t be better because the owners of the two businesses are husband and wife.

Kevin Bohacz is the President of CPrompt, a software development and technical advisory firm who’s clients range from 14 person companies to industry giants such as MCI Telecommunications. Mazelle Ablon is the President of Mazelle’s Cheesecakes, a wholesale manufacturer of gourmet desserts. Mazelle's cheesecakes are served in thousands of fine restaurants and on American Airlines first class service.

Mazelle’s Cheesecakes wanted to try its hand at selling over the Internet. Like many smaller businesses, the cost of doing e-commerce was high and the promise of returns was uncertain. The only thing that made business sense was for Mazelle's Cheesecakes to find an inexpensive way to give the Internet a try.

SendSafe was developed as a cost efficient, no compromise system for doing business on the Internet. Bohacz who has decades of experience architecting networked systems, designed and built a product that was the best of all worlds, because this system was being designed for his wife. Bohacz originally used Java^® for the Internet side and Microsoft C++ for the software robot that runs on the business side. The two technologies were blended to perfection into an automated client/server solution. Years later, the Java GUI was replaced with a technology called ASP for the broadest possible web compatibility.

Mazelle Ablon has 16 years of experience running her manufacturing business. She had to have a product that fit into the existing business, a product that non-technical people could work with. Many functions of SendSafe were changed or added to mold the product into a great fit for Mazelle’s. These functions are the same things that all small business need from an e-commerce product.
